LIMITS ARE ONLY IN THE IMAGINATION

Logan Gatza
UNC at Chapel Hill Class of 2026

The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus. ~ Bruce Lee

Most people think my successes come naturally to me, but in reality, all of my accomplishments are thanks to studying, training, persistence, and the support from my coach, team, and family. My name is Logan, and I am a fencer, Eagle Scout, dancer, and straight-A student. I graduated 9th in my class from Crooms Academy of Information Technology in 2022, and I fence for UNC's Division 1 NCAA Team. I have fenced both Foil and Epee for the last 11 years and earned many achievements, such as Competing for Team USA at World Cups in both Foil and Epee in France, Slovakia, and Poland, Gold in the Youth Pan American Games in Peru, leading my region in points in both epee and foil, multiple podiums in Modern Pentathlon nationals, and being a founding member of the Florida High School Fencing League. I have stayed vigilant in my schoolwork along this journey,  focusing on computer science and sports administration.

TriCord (Patent Pending) image
I love foil and I love epee....but I don't love switching cords.
Since I fence both foil and epee, many times I would need to either double cord or quickly switch cords at tournaments. I invented an attachment that would allow me to use an epee cord but add a part that would easily change it into a foil cord. This fencing accessory would allow a fencer to literally fence all 3 weapons with only one cord.
Great for multi-weapon fencers, coaches, or fencing schools.
Eagle Scout Project image
I am an Eagle Scout from Troop 787. As a part of my scouting journey I led a service project to design, construct, and donate parafencing platforms to a local fencing club. Wheelchair fencing is a sport in the Paralympics and is widely competed in by those with disabilities that prevent them from moving around on a normal fencing strip. The construction and donation of these platforms helped start a parafencing program to help those with disabilities get involved in fencing.
